What a wild and strange story. It is a combination of weird wig magic, witchcraft, and technology. Yes, I said wig magic.
Rain, the wig maker and central protagonist of the story, discovers that the wigs of her creation give the wearers powers. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Rain attempts to save her country and her people.
I think. This story is so off the wall that it was a little bit difficult to follow. But the bones are good, and it is an interesting take. Okorofor creates exciting worlds, and I would love to see her flesh this out more. I mean, wigs with power and a story that blends science, witchcraft, and technology. So cool!

About The Author
I’ve only read two Nnedi books, but really liked both of them. She is literary but also totally accessible at the same time. She also has weird stuff in her books, which appeals to me lol. Great review!
I have this one! What is it about Okorafor and hair? 🙂 Binti was about hair a lot too! Hahah. I still have to read this one. I’ll probably enjoy it!
She does write about hair quite a lot. This is about witch powered wigs.
I’ve got it on my Kindle. I guess I’m going to read it because I’m sort of trying to reach a number before New year’s anyway 😀
What is your number?
Well, I was going for 52, but I accidentally read over 160, so it’s kind of a shame not to go for 200 now xD although I don’t know if I can. We’ll see!
Hahah you are killing it!
