This series. God, this series is good. Consistently, and remarkably good. Tim Seeley has written a series about characters that you care about in an untenable situation with twists and turns that are interesting. They pull you in and are batshit crazy enough that you keep turning the page and scratching your head and wondering what he is going to come up with next. This series is not kind, or gentle, and definitely for the faint of heart. I think especially this book. This volume hit me hard.
Things I can put out there and say for sure. This series still has consistently great artwork and storytelling. The illustrators Mike Norton, Mark Englert, Art Baltazar, and Jenny Frison make this series what it is just as much as Tim Seeley does. They give it a noir feel. Tim Seeley zombie noir in the midwest storyline is still going strong. But questions are being answered for major plot lines. If you decide to start this series, you won’t be disappointed. You really won’t. This series won’t leave you high and dry. I am looking forward to continuing with the next couple of books and seeing where all these crazy plot threads are taking me.
“When someone leaves your life, those exits are not made equal. Some are beautiful and poetic and satisfying. Others are abrupt and unfair. But most are just unremarkable, unintentional, clumsy.”
