Coming May 27th, 2025: Cold Silver for Souls
“Bounty Hunter. Necromancer. Outcast.”
Today I am just about dying of excitement, because I have the honour of helping reveal the drop-dead gorgeous cover of Cold Silver for Souls by Tori Tecken. If you have read the indie advent anthology The Advent of Winter, which was released in December 2023, you might remember Tori’s short story about a bounty hunter and her animated corpse, Rip… and now they are getting their own full-length novel babyyy!!
So, may I introduce to you all: Cold Silver for Souls, a fantasy western influenced by the episodic style series of the 60s and 70s, set in a world inspired by the wild west and the Yukon Gold Rush. It is a character-driven, first person narrative with emphasis on found family, lone wolf and cub, and motley crew tropes.
Now, if that little elevator pitch didn’t immediately sell you already, then be prepared to be hooked by this irresistibly intriguing blurb.
She goes on the hunt when the law doesn’t want to get its hands dirty.
Born and bred in the harsh northern winters, Hunter collects bounties on thieves and murderers for a handful of coin, dragging Rip, her animated corpse, behind her. Trust wears thin in the wild Territories, and the law doesn’t always land on the side of justice. Or the side of a necromancer.
When a wealthy Shadesilver baron blackmails her for a murder she didn’t commit, Hunter takes on one last job. But instead of an easy payday, Hunter finds something she never expected, something that will tear open old wounds and set her on a path to find her own justice. This time, it’s for someone else.
Honestly, say less! The buzzwords are buzzing so hard over here. I mean, if anyone is going to nail this vibe, it’s our motley crew queen Tori!
And naturally, a book with such a strong premise deserves one hell of an epic cover as well, so let’s just stop stalling and reveal the masterpiece already. Maybe make sure you are sitting down, because I guarantee this cover will rock you off your feet… 3, 2, 1…. let’s goooo!

Hey friends! I’m Tori. When I was a little sprout, my epic fantasy storytelling involved small pirate and animal figurines invading rival lego villages. Inspired early on by the powerful storytelling of writers like Jack London and Brian Jacques, I was obsessed with characters I couldn’t get out of my head and the possibility of worlds undiscovered.
After writing a few books, becoming a self-published author at age 14, and teaching at Young Writers’ Conferences for a few years, I went to college. I married the weirdest boy I’d ever met. We now have three small humans of our own who are just as weird as we are, but much more wonderful.
Today, I’m a wife and a stay-at-home mom, but I’m still a storyteller. I write beneath the supervision of two feline overlords in a chair that is older than I am. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Pull up a chair and join the chaos. I hope you find a world here that you can’t wait to go back to.
