Tag time! Jodie at Witty and Sarcastic Book Club Tagged me in this Universal Monster Tag. I am a huge fan of monsters. Both, the creepy furry kind and monsters who are men. I get to pick books that represent famous monsters.. so here we go!
“What would an ocean be without a monster lurking in the dark? It would be like sleep without dreams.”
– Werner Herzog
Dracula- a book with a charismatic villain:
“I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti”
Is there any other villain in history that can deliver a line about cannibalism quite the way Hannibal does.
Wolf-Man: A complicated character-
HAL is a complicated character. A computer that develops sentience, and slowly develops a sort of morality.
The Bride of Frankenstein: A sequel you enjoyed more than the first book
I love this book. I am only half way through the first book, I read these out of order but I think the second book is better.
The Mummy: A book that wraps up nicely (see what I did there?)-
What is better than a warm fire after frolicking with your favorite monsters all day.
The Invisible Man: A book that has more going on than meets the eye-
This book is about all sorts of stuff. Childhood, kids, friendship. But frankly this kid sucks sucks sucks
Frankenstein: A book with a misunderstood character-
All the girlfriends, and wives in these stories. They are misunderstood because they are so much more than they seem. They are not just sidekicks and plot points to heros.
Creature from the Black Lagoon: An incredibly unique book-
This is my favorite book. For me, it is much more than a zombie book. This book looks at the sociological implications on different groups after apocalypse. It is so well written I end up thinking about it often. Forget about the movie, the movie is crap.
Here you go, my favorite monsters! Tell me what you think. I tag anyone who is interested in participating.
