That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming

that time I got drunk and saved a demon

“I could die from this. They’ll have to write “fucked into oblivion” on my tombstone. But glory, glory, what a hell of a way to die.”

that time I got drunk and saved a demonThere is nothing for it; Cinnamon from That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming has to become my bestie. This was one of the novels where I honestly thought, “damn, I wish I lived in that fantasy world.”

Imagine this: Spice Trader and ride-or-die protagonist Cinnamon gets drunk and, while drunk, just happens to save a demon named Fallon. Thus, Cin gets pulled on a quest with that demon, who is a bit of a sexpot, that will change her life and the lands around her.

“Hold on,” he said, pointing to the bottle. “Did you just pull an entire bottle of liquor out of your skirt?” “Yes.”

From there, Cin goes from adventure to adventure, demon in tow, knocking out the baddies and saving the innocents. All while flirting with the sexy demon. All while pulling things out of her skirts like snacks, wine, and tools. Pockets are the absolute best.

“You don’t remember?” Fallon put his arms behind his head and settled back down. “Last night, you demanded we bring you cheese and then stated that you were the cheese queen.”

Because this is a Romantasy, fun, sexy time follows. And I mean fun. Author Lemming brings the spice level to Caliente but adds a bit of whimsy and snark to all the sexy scenes. Whatever your kicks are, it is best to check the content warnings to see if this book is for you. It has a bit of slap and tickle that could offend some readers. But overall, I found the sex scenes furthered the plot and character progression. There is a definite sweetness to the relationship that Cin and Fallon have.

“Every scratch,” he whispered, his tone gentle and comforting. “Every bruise, I will pay back in fire and blood.”

I blinked. “Um…that is so sweet but so unnecessary.”

In conclusion, I liked That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon so much that I went out and tried to buy a physical copy, but no dice, as it is sold out everywhere. I am on a mission, though, and it will go in my “fun” section of the library right up front with pride of place. Next is the second novel in the trilogy, That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf.” Anything with “Yeet” and “Werewolf” has me sold by title alone.
